Cathy Yuen, OD, FAAO
Cathy Yuen, OD, FAAO is an experienced optometrist with a depth of experience in both hospital and retail settings. In addition to a residency at SUNY College of Optometry with an emphasis on ocular disease, Dr. Yuen earned a Masters in Medical Management. She also achieved the prestigious designation of Fellow from the American Academy of Optometry, a distinguished honor awarded in recognition of the highest level of achievement in the field. With a strong history of co-managing with oculoplastics and neuro-ophthalmology, Dr. Yuen also has years of experience as a surgical co-manager for pre- and post-operative cataracts.
As a Certified Light Adjustment Specialist for Light Adjustable Lenses (LALs) at VisionLOCK she believes communication and teamwork are the key to ensuring a seamless patient experience. She appreciates the customization that LALs offer, and says, “I empower each patient to make the best decisions based on their needs. It is the most rewarding feeling when the patient is excited about their new vision, knowing that they were part of the journey.”
An active leader in the optometric community, Dr. Yuen is the past president of the Rochester Optometric Society and Finger Lakes-Niagara Regional Trustee. A member of the American Optometric Association and the New York State Optometric Association, Dr. Yuen has also presented at national academic meetings and served on the clinical faculty at University of Rochester Medical Center.
Dr. Yuen earned her Doctor of Optometry from Pacific University and completed a residency at SUNY College of Optometry. She’s also earned a Master’s in Medical Management at the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business, where she earned the Elizabeth S. Hansen Award as the student with the highest GPA amongst the graduating Masters of Science class. Fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin, Dr. Yuen is adept at conveying complex issues in understandable terms to a wide population of patients.
