Chris Smiley, OD, is the founder of Vision Professionals, a multi-location independent optometric group in Central Ohio that has been recognized as a CooperVision Best Practice for excellence and innovation in contact lens care. Emphasizing personalized care, Dr. Smiley specializes in ocular surface disease, dry eye, glaucoma management, and advanced contact lens solutions. With over 25 years of experience, he is also a trusted provider of perioperative care in the region.

As a Certified Light Adjustment Specialist for Light Adjustable Lenses (LALs) at VisionLOCK, Dr. Smiley brings a wealth of experience and a patient-centered approach to the team. “I have a strong belief in collaborative care, emphasizing communication, alignment on goals, and a shared focus on achieving the best outcome for the patient,” he says.

Committed to bringing the latest innovations to his patients, Dr. Smiley is thrilled with the LAL experience. “I enjoy helping patients fine-tune their vision after surgery and achieving exceptional results that align with each patient’s unique visual needs and lifestyle,” he shares.

Dr. Smiley graduated with honors in the Pre-Optometry, Molecular Genetics & Physiological Optics program at The Ohio State University. He also earned his Doctor of Optometry at Ohio State, where he was a member of the Gold Key International Optometric Society, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and the winner of the American Optometric Foundation/VISTAKON Award of Excellence in Patient Contact Lens Care.

An active advocate in the field, Dr. Smiley has served as a Clinical Assistant Professor and mentor at The Ohio State University College of Optometry since 2010. He is also a sought-after speaker at regional and national events, has published numerous papers, and is a Board Member of the Central Ohio Optometric Association and a member of both the Ohio Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association.
