Robert Mitchell, OD

Dr. Robert Mitchell is the founder of Oro Valley Eyecare in Oro Valley, Arizona, where he practices and manages the full scope of optometric care at his practice. In addition to providing comprehensive eye care, Dr. Mitchell is very interested in offering other optional services including orthokeratology, advanced dry eye evaluations and treatments, surgical co-management, and neuro-vision training.

With years of experience as a perioperative care provider, Dr. Mitchell is also a Certified Light Adjustment Specialist for Light Adjustable Lenses (LALs) at VisionLOCK. He strongly believes that regular communication with surgeons and thorough care for patients leads to optimal results. Founding his practice with the motto, “We Care. You’ll See,” Dr. Mitchell is committed to bringing the latest advancements in eyecare to his patients, and LALs are an extension of that mission. “It’s so exciting to see patients have that ‘wow’ experience when their post-operative vision can be precisely customized to their lifestyle and goals,” he shares.

After earning a bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University, in Provo, Utah, Dr. Mitchell earned his Doctor of Optometry from University of Houston College of Optometry, where he earned a scholarship and completed a research fellowship, in addition to his externships.

Active in the optometric community, Dr. Mitchell is a member of the American Optometric Association and the Arizona Optometric Association. He also serves as Administrator in his local Vision Source group, which includes private practice doctors in the Southwest Arizona Region.

Dr. Mitchell speaks both Spanish and English, allowing him to confidently and clearly communicate with a broad range of the patient population.
