The LAL Adjustment Process
The Adjustment Process at VisionLOCK Centers
Congratulations on selecting the Light Adjustable Lens (LAL)!
You have chosen the most advanced intraocular lens available today, the only one that can be completely customized after surgery to match your visual lifestyle and needs. Your new lenses will be tailored to how you use your eyes, helping you achieve vision that is optimized to your daily activities and unique requirements.
Post-Op Period
It takes several weeks for your eyes to heal following cataract surgery. Here are a few tips to help you prepare for the adjustment process at your VisionLOCK Adjustment Center.
- Protect your investment! Wear the RxSight UV protective glasses immediately following your surgery until your VisionLOCK Doctor instructs you that it is safe to discontinue wear (usually 24 hours following final lock-in).
- Follow your surgeon’s postoperative drop instructions.
- Use preservative-free dry eye drops at least twice per day before your adjustments.
LIGHT TREATMENT PLAN
About three weeks after your surgery, you will visit your VisionLOCK Adjustment Center to begin the light treatment (adjustment) process. You will undergo one to three light treatments to fine-tune your vision, giving you ample time to test different visual outcomes to see what works best for you. Once you have determined your optimal vision, your lenses will be “locked-in” to finalize your results.
ADJUSTMENT VISITS
Each visit follows a four-step process:
Assessment – your VisionLOCK team will evaluate your eyes, check your vision, take key measurements, and ensure that your eyes are ready for a light treatment.
Customization – you will discuss your individual visual needs with your VisionLOCK Certified Adjustment Doctor and develop a light treatment plan to meet your goals. Use this Vision Customization Form approximately 1-2 weeks after surgery to help your VisionLOCK Doctor with your adjustment.
Dilation – your eyes must be fully dilated before the light treatment; in some cases, this may require more than one set of dilating drops to achieve full dilation.
Light Treatment – based on your measurements and visual goals, your VisionLOCK Doctor will deliver the light treatment using the LAL Light Delivery Device. This painless procedure lasts anywhere from 30 seconds to 2 minutes per eye.
