Justin Sherman OD, FAAO, FSLS
Justin Sherman OD, FAAO, FSLS, is a residency-trained optometrist specializing in anterior segment disease and medical contact lenses. The Medical Director and optometrist at Medical Optometry America in Newtown Square and Horsham, PA, Dr. Sherman has a deep passion for designing complex therapeutic lenses and managing anterior segment conditions. He provides expert care to patients facing issues such as ocular surface disease, keratoconus, Fuchs’ dystrophy, basement membrane dystrophy, aniridia, aphakia, herpetic eye disease, and penetrating globe injuries.
Dr. Sherman has extensive experience designing and fitting a wide range of specialty lenses including front, back, bitoric, aspheric multifocal and translating multifocal GPs, custom soft lenses, hybrid lenses. He is a true specialist with scleral lenses, having fit over 1,000 patients. Dr. Sherman is a Certified Light Adjustment Specialist for Light Adjustable Lenses (LALs) at VisionLock, with particular expertise in perioperative care. As part of a surgical team, Dr. Sherman believes that “collaboration and communication optimize patient outcomes.”
Dr. Sherman attended University of California, where earned a BS in Biology. He then earned his Doctor of Optometry from Salus University, where he also completed a residency at The Eye Institute of PCO in Cornea and Specialty Contact Lens. During his education, Dr. Sherman participated in several externships and earned frequent honors, including a nomination for the Inaugural Bernard Blaustein Residency Award, Low Vision Clinical Honors, Salus University Clinical Honors, and a Cornea Contact Lens and Refractive Technology Resident Travel Grant.
A Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society (FSLS) and the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO) CCLRT Section, Dr. Sherman is also a fervent researcher and educator, frequently presenting at events throughout the country, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and volunteering as an externship preceptor at the PA College of Optometry at Drexel University.
